Our editorial approach
Spec sheets and product listings do not always tell you what matters once the equipment is in a car. CarAudioBlog focuses on the practical side: what the numbers mean, and what actually makes a difference when you choose and use car audio gear.
An article can draw on several kinds of information: manufacturer specifications, technical documentation, product comparisons, compatibility details and, where they exist, real-world observations. Not all of it carries the same weight, so we keep these sources clearly separate.
Manufacturer specifications. Figures a manufacturer publishes, such as rated power, frequency response or sensitivity. We present them as the manufacturer’s figures, not as our own measurements.
Research-based information. Details drawn from technical documentation, installation manuals, product information and other reliable sources, checked against one another where possible.
Editorial analysis. Our interpretation of that information: what a specification means in practice, how products compare, and which trade-offs matter for different setups.
Hands-on observations. Notes on fit, installation or everyday use from products Marcus Reed has personally installed or tested. Anything he has not tested is covered from research only and never presented as tested.
The aim is to give readers useful, clearly sourced information without exaggerating how a product performs or making claims we cannot support.
Who writes for us
Every article on CarAudioBlog carries one of two bylines, shown under its title. Articles written by Marcus Reed, the founder and editor-in-chief, carry his name and link to his author page. Where he has personally tested a product, the hands-on observations and review claims in that article are his own; anything he has not personally tested is based on research and is never presented as hands-on tested. All other articles carry the CarAudioBlog Editorial Team byline and are based on research and analysis. Whichever byline an article carries, CarAudioBlog as a publication is accountable for everything it publishes.
How we evaluate products and recommendations
When an article compares products or recommends one, it weighs the factors that matter for that kind of product. How much each factor counts depends on the product type and on the reader’s own vehicle and setup.

Output, sound quality, and the features that affect how a product performs in a real system.
Fit and installation
Compatibility with the vehicle and other components, installation requirements, and how easy the product is to set up and use.
Ownership and value
Build quality, expected reliability, and whether the price makes sense for what the product delivers.
No single factor decides a recommendation on its own. A product that suits one install can be the wrong choice for another, so we aim to explain the reasoning rather than simply name a winner.
